About Us

Thank you for your interest in the Booth Western Art Museum in downtown Cartersville. This 80,000 square foot Museum opened in August 2003 with main galleries featuring contemporary Western American art. Other galleries feature Civil War art, Presidential portraits and letters, Western movie posters, and Western illustration.  Sagebrush Ranch is an interactive gallery where children of all ages can learn about art and Western America. The Museum’s Special Exhibit Gallery hosts three to five temporary exhibits per year.

The Museum Store offers books on art and the West, as well as prints and other items featuring Western American art images. The Café offers light lunches to guests and members visiting the Museum. A multimedia theatre, with seating for 60, shows the orientation film “The American West” every 20 minutes.

The Museum hosts several lectures per month by authors, writers, historians and artists, including Art for Lunch on the first Wednesday of each month in the Booth Theatre from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm.  A lecture or entertainment event is held on the third Thursday evening each month. These events begin at 7:00 pm in the 140-seat Booth Theatre and many feature a book, print or poster signing following the lecture. Lectures are free for Museum members and included with admission for not-yet-members.

Memberships are available.  Members enjoy free admission and invitations to informative and entertaining events, while supporting the educational programs of the Museum.  For more information, email Jamie Chandler or call her at 770-387-8613.

Volunteer opportunities are available in all areas of the Museum. Orientation classes for volunteers begin regularly.  Those interested in volunteering or wanting additional information should email our Volunteer Coordinator, Marcia Dillard, or call 770-387-3849.

The Education department offers school group programs designed for specific grade levels and related to state education guidelines.  For more information on the school group tours or to book a group tour for students, please contact Central Scheduling at 770-606-5699.

Other Museum visitors and groups can enjoy the Highlights Tour. This tour is an overview of the collection and is offered every day at 1:30 pm. We also offer unique, self-guided family tours. Families are able to check out saddlebags filled with activities from the front desk. The activities are designed to help parents and children get the most out of their Museum visit in a fun-filled manner. To receive an admission discount for a group of 15 or more, please contact Central Scheduling at 770-606-5699.

Please call 770-387-1300  if you have any further questions.
We look forward to seeing you at the Booth Western Art Museum.
