Saturday, August 23, 2008, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Can you believe it’s been 5 years since the Booth opened its’ doors?

The Booth will be celebrating its’ 5th birthday with a special party in appreciation of our members on Saturday, August 23 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.  So, saddle-up and come join us for a day of live entertainment and fun activities for the entire family.

Here’s what we have planned….

Entertainment: Three performances by KG and the Ranger, the Booth’s own Doc Stovall, live actors in the galleries and a special 5 year look at the history of the Booth.

Children’s Activities:  We’ll keep’em entertained inside and out with pony rides and multiple hands-on projects that include, creating Plains Indian shields and WANTED posters.

Cowboy Hat Decorating Contest: Here’s your chance to make a statement!  Decorate your old cowboy hat, bring it to the Booth on August 23 and participate in a chance to win a fabulous prize.  Prizes will be awarded to adults and children at
3:00 pm in the Theatre.  Make it funny, make it bold or just make it YOU!   Guidelines:  Have fun and be as creative as you want however keep in mind these hats will need to be brought into the museum.  Therefore please be sure to secure your decorations to the hat using glue or sew them on.  Materials that cannot be used include; glitter, live flowers, anything that may attract insects or may fall / shake off.

Time Capsule: Help us create a Booth time capsule and become a part of the Booth’s history!  On August 23, bring something small that’s personal or unique to be placed inside the time capsule and watch as we bury it on the Booth grounds.  Items to include in the time capsule: pocket size dictionary, newspaper articles, menus from your favorite restaurant, catalogs, recipes, photographs, movie ticket stubs, a Farmer Almanac, maps, favorite books, grocery store receipt or copy of your family tree.

Hard Hat Tours: You’ve seen the Booth expansion but have you been inside?  Hard hat tours will take place for you to get a sneak peak at what will be included in the 30,000ft expansion.
