26 people attended the organizational meeting to discuss the possibility of forming a Civil War roundtable for the local area on August 3, 2006. Trey Gaines, representing the Bartow History Center, and myself, along with several other staff members representing the Booth Western Art Museum, attended the meeting. The group decided to call themselves the Northwest Georgia Civil War Roundtable and to meet at the Booth on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm.

Members will pay $50 in annual dues to belong and will pay $20 per month when they attend for a meal to be served by the Booth cafe staff. Reservations will be required in advance. For the first couple months, Booth staff members, Bruce Lindler and Spencer Dillard, have agreed to help contact everyone and handle reservations. Within a few months the group will elect officers and they will be responsible for running the organization.

If you know anyone who would be interested in being involved in this group please pass this information on to them, or give their contact information to Spencer or Bruce.

It is our hope that this group will develop into a support organization for both the Bartow History Center and the Booth Western Art Museum.

If you have questions, suggestions, or concerns - please let me know.
