Explore the West! Without Leaving the South
Explore the American West through the paintings, sculptures and objects in the Booth Western Art Museum’s collection. Spend time in the Civil War Gallery or the Carolyn & James Millar Presidential Gallery featuring portraits, notable facts and an original signed letter by each United States President.
Student tour programs are designed to meet Georgia Performance Standards in language arts, social studies and visual arts while engaging student’s critical and creative thinking skills. Discover the array of curriculum-based programs and field trip opportunities available to students throughout the year and take your students on a field trip they will always remember.
Home School Gathering at the Booth

Calling all Home-Schoolers! The Booth is having a special day just for you! This program is held in connection with the 9th Annual Southeastern Cowboy Gathering. Tours will be offered several times throughout the afternoon, art activities will be located at different stations around the museum, free audio tours will be offered that day, and there will be special discounts for you and your family in the store and café.
Writing Through Art Gallery Program (Grades 6-12)
Give your students an excellent introduction to three specific types of writing in this unique gallery program using original works of art as a means of inspiring creative and powerful written work. Components of the visit include instruction and activities helpful in writing Short Stories, Narrative Poetry and Cowboy Poetry. Students learn to be careful observers as they incorporate their thoughts and reactions to the artwork by completing writing exercises related to what they see. Students may enter their work in the museum’s annual Writing Through Art Literary contest held in March.
Tuesday – Friday throughout the school year.

The Civil War Comes Alive (Grades 3 – 12)
In honor of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, the Bartow History Museum and the Booth Museum are offering the chance to bring your students to an unforgettable Civil War experience. This one day special event is just for school groups and will bring history to life for students through interaction with soldiers from both sides of the War. Choose from four performance times to experience the life of a Civil War soldier, then visit a field hospital, see a cannon being fired and much more. Demonstrations of blacksmithing, rifle firing, and signaling along with a visit to the home front will also provide students with a unique perspective on the War. Passport to the West (Ages 7-17)
History comes to life for students during the 9th Annual Cowboy Symposium and Festival. Demonstrations of wood burning, pottery making, blacksmithing, chair caning, spinning, beading, chuck wagon cooking, flint knapping, and life at a trading post will fascinate students as they take this educational journey to the West. Living history performers, Jim Sawgrass and Little Big Mountain will present programs on Native American culture. Thursday, October 25, 2012

Home School Days (Ages 7 – 12)
Explore different art mediums and techniques in this special art class. Students take home a completed art project at the end of each class.
