Thursday, October 21, 2010
9:00 am – 1:00 pm: School Program – Passport to the West
Bring your students to the Booth Museum for an unforgettable Western experience. History comes alive for students with demonstrations of wood burning, pottery making, blacksmithing, chair caning, spinning, beading, chuck wagon cooking, lye soap making, and life at a trading post. Living history performers, Jim Sawgrass, and Little Big Mountain will present programs on Native American culture for students. This program is appropriate for grades 3 – 12. Admission is $5 for students; teachers and chaperones are free. Call 770-387-3849 to schedule your school group.
5:00 - 7:00 pm: Doc Stovall and the Tumbleweed Cowboy Band will perform in the Museum Atrium.

10:30 am - 4:00 pm: Art History Lectures in the Booth Theatre
Scholars from around the country will present their research on a variety of Western art topics. All presentations are held in the Booth Theatre, lasting approximately 90 minutes, with time for questions during each session. This event is free for members and included in regular admission for not-yet-members.
7:00 pm: Western Concert in the Booth Ballroom featuring Belinda Gail and JIm Jones
Tickets for the concert are $15 for non Museum members, $12 for Booth Museum members, and $10 for students.
Saturday, October 23, 2010
9:00 am – 5:00 pm: Cowboy Festival, Children’s Activities and Western Marketplace on the grounds of the Museum
Sample the wares of vendors ranging from Western art to collectibles. Enjoy entertainment throughout the day on two stages, including Western music, fast draw competitions, three performances of the Re-enactment of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and demonstrations of traditional Native American dances by the Big Mountain Family. Plus, living history encampments with demonstrations of pioneer skills from bygone days.
The Kids Corner of the Festival and Symposium will feature a variety of free activities for children. They can create a slinky snake or a hand print horse, paint the “yard art” ponies, do some calf roping and have their face painted. There will also be pony rides available for a small charge.
2:00 pm: Riders in the Sky Matinee Concert in the Grand Theatre. Tickets are $25 for non museum members, $20 for members, and $5 for children 16 and younger.
7:00 pm: Concert in the Grand Theatre featuringRiders in the Sky.

A non-denominational service featuring cowboy prayers and Western spiritual music.
Noon to 5:00 pm: Cowboy Festival, Children’s Activities, and Western Marketplace on the grounds of the Museum.

Western Concert Featuring Belinda Gail and Jim Jones
Friday, Oct. 22, 7:00 pm in the Booth Ballroom
“America’s Western Sweetheart,” Belinda Gail, and Jim Jones will entertain guests at a Western Concert on Friday, October 22, in the Booth Ballroom.
Gail has been honored by the Western Music Association and the Academy of Western Artists as female Performer of the Year and as Entertainer of the Year several times over the course of her career. While working with the late Curley Musgrave, they received many awards for their vocal and writing collaboration.
Jim Jones is a gifted songwriter, instrumentalist and producer. He has been named the Western Music Association’s Male Vocalist of the Year and is in much demand at festivals and gatherings throughout the West. Additionally, Jim is a best-selling author having penned “Rustler’s Moon”; he has completed the sequel and it is in the publishing phase at this writing. |

Riders in the Evening Concert
Saturday, Oct. 23, 7:00 pm in the Grand Theatre
Riders in the Sky, made up of Ranger Doug, Woody Paul, Too Slim and Joey, has been entertaining audiences since 1977. In 1982, they became the first exclusively Western music artist to join the Grand Ole Opry. Riders in the Sky has also provided music for several Walt Disney/Pixar album, most notably “Woody’s Roundup Featuring Riders in the Sky” which was released as a companion album to “Toy Story 2.” Riders in the Sky will be available to sign CDs and meet fans in the Encore Room adjacent to the Theatre following each show. |

This camp is representative of a "trail camp" that was used during the annual round up. Set up by the ranch house cook as a semi-permanent camp, the "trail hands" would return at the end of a long hard day for a good cup of coffee, some "grub" and a bedroll to grab some "shut-eye". |

The first documented "saloon" established in 1822, was Brown's Hole near the WY, CO, and UT border. Used not only for liquid refreshment and good card game, saloons were used as bathhouses and barbershops; post offices and drug stores; cigar stores and even courthouses, making this the center of social activity in a newly formed western town.
