  • 80,000 square foot building with an additional 30,000 to be added (construction began August 2007)
     

  • Only museum of its kind in the Southeast

  • Named an Affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution in August 2006

  • Main art galleries feature primarily Western artists of the 20th and 21st Centuries

    • American West Gallery, Cowboy Gallery, Mythic West, The Reel West, Sagebrush Ranch, James and Carolyn Millar Presidential Gallery, War is Hell
       

  • Temporary Exhibition Galleries include:

    • Special Exhibition Gallery, Borderlands Gallery, Theatre Lobby Gallery
       

  • Other features:

    • Orientation Theatre (seats 60 people)

      • Used for the showing of the Booth’s film “The American West” (running time is 15 minutes)

    • Presentation Theatre (seats 140 people)

    • Café

      • Offers light lunches and snacks to guests

      • Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 10:30 am – 3:30 pm

    • Museum Store

      • Open during all Museum hours

      • Offers books, art prints, children’s items and more

      • Online shopping available

    • Library

      •  Functions as a reference library for Western American art, culture and history.  The Library also has small collections of reference materials on Civil War history, United States presidential history, and local history that support the collections of the Booth Western Art Museum.

      • Available to museum visitors, students, researchers and the public during Museum hours, Tuesday – Friday (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) by appointment only

      • All collections are non-circulating
         

  • Glass elevator with real weights – one of only two in the country
     

  • Building Facts

    • The original building was designed by the Bergman Group in Miami, FL with Mark Robillaro Architecture of Canton, GA.

    • The building is constructed of Bulgarian limestone

    • Designer Frank Bergman describes the basic shape as a “modern pueblo.”

    • The addition is being designed by Inox Design Architects of Marietta, GA in association with Frank Bergman.
