Georgia Museums,
Inc. and Cartersville School System Partnership
Agreement
Georgia Museum,
Inc. includes the Bartow History Center, Booth Western Art Museum, and
Resource Center/Science and Art Center to be replaced by Tellus: Northwest
Georgia Science Museum when it opens.
Admission is during
regular hours of operation. Limitations: The purpose of
this partnership is specifically to enrich classroom instruction for CSS
students and teachers and excludes admission to educational programs not
conducted on GMI premises, special events, exclusive member events, summer
camps, enrichment classes, or general visitation to the Museums.
Admission is for teachers and students only and does not include
parents, family members, friends, etc.
Teachers
can:
1. Book an
established school program by contacting the GMI scheduling office at
770-607-3686. The number of students GMI can accommodate at each
location on any given day varies, and teachers are encouraged to book
programs early to ensure availability. Teachers should give 45
days notice prior to canceling a scheduled program.
2. Develop your own
program and conduct it at the Bartow History Center, Booth Western Art
Museum, or Tellus, when it opens. Please be sure to wear your school
system identification badge and sign in at the front desk while developing
your own teaching units or conducting research at GMI. When a CSS
teacher brings students to GMI for a program based on a teaching unit
they've developed, the visit must be booked through the GMI scheduling
office in order to avoid scheduling conflicts with groups and maintain
a quality experience for all visitors.
3. Assign
independent research projects to students to be researched at GMI.
Research areas have separate hours and may require an appointment.
Individual students or classes that are assigned research projects by CSS
teachers can have access to GMI facilities if the teacher provides the
Museum's education department with the project title, beginning and ending
date for the assignment and a list of students. Students must be on
the list provided by the teacher. Access to GMI research facilities
(library/archives) is by appointment and under the supervision of the
Museum's librarian or archivist.
